Village people alongside the Danube River has several legends of wrecks, treasures trunks and fishermen who suddenly became rich. Legends say that the gold of Queen Mary’s ships got caught in the nets of these sons of good luck. It is a historical fact that the widow queen, after the Battle of Mohács, tried to escape the royal treasury from the Turks to Vienna on boat and some of them sank somewhere around the settlement of Esztergom and Pilismarót. According to the people of the village of Dunabogdány, it was a Turkish ship carrying treasures that sank by the village.
